yep, i'm obsessed. i don't think i would ever get tired of watching it. it's truly one of the best films this year. the brilliance of anora lies in its simplicity. it doesn’t try to do too much and yet it accomplishes everything it sets out to do. it’s a quiet triumph of storytelling, where every moment feels intentional, and each character feels as if they could walk right out of the screen and into your life. anora stays with you because of how it makes you feel. & that ending? just wow.

umbrellas, gas station, the name francois/e, cobbled streets, and especially michel legrand's score will bring this moving, heartfelt film to mind... and then you will move on to other things. ultimately, time and circumstances slowly peter out the once passionate feelings, words, colours. sure, you will remember something/someone from your past, but that is all they will be — a memory. it's a simple fact of life and jacques demy wonderfully captures this reality. excusez-moi, i'm gonna cry just for a bit.

there were some flat stretches but still a bong joon ho banger and robert pattinson was fucking amazing. this reminded me how much i don't like working under an executive who proudly calls himself a "commercial animal" and views his employees as "liabilities". but if bong has taught me anything, it's that resistance is always possible; systems can crack and people will always find a way through.

this is one of those movies that hits differently at certain stages of life. for some reason i can't even remember, this was not my thing at 14 (the ending, maybe? the ripped paper?) but now? this has got to be one of the most tender, genuine, and deeply felt love stories i've ever watched. thanks to the quiet sincerity, conflict, and vulnerability in river phoenix's performance paired with the warmth, gentle strength, and authenticity of lily taylor's rose.... yet again, this also proves that female directors portray characters with so much more depth and nuance. movies by women just feel better.

isn't everyone in pain in some way?

beautiful, tragic, funny, sad, grounded, and isn't afraid to confront difficult truths.

    i live, i die, i live again.

    - me whenever i watch mad max.

it's a work of brilliance that will leave one speechless and will stay with you long after the credits roll. the prequel made it even better. mind you, the film as a standalone is already perfect. huhuhu. mad max furiosa is gonna be my entire personality for the whole month.
