watched this on a plane while feeling extreeeeeeeemely sick to my stomach which definitely didn't help. it was fun watching josh hartnett have fun. at no point did i think anyone was really in danger, it didn't feel very tense, in part due to m. night's daughter's acting. very sorry but i thought she was terrible, nepo fail

lots to love here, but i was also wishing for more. even though i typically love something dense and snappy, i don't mind a slower paced film, first things that come to mind are perfect days and happy together. but those both earn their pacing choices, and i don't think this does. even though i understand they're a reference to the mid episode musical break in the show, having two musical performances in a row in the bar was frustrating…
two of these stars are for cynthia and one is for ariana, who were both genuinely great, but the movie as a whole i did not enjoy. everyone's already said it, but the lighting! is soooo bad! everything is low contrast and constantly backlit. especially egregrious since the wizard of oz is one of the most famous uses of technicolor. here, it was not only very ugly to look at, but the lighting hurt the storytelling. after elphaba smashes the…
