idk, this is the first film I have found that has attempted to capture the experiences of coming from a pakistani-muslim family, being the child of immigrants, while also attempting to reconcile these identities with that of the one you form in the west
unfortunately, this didn’t take a very nuanced approach. I can appreciate how personal this is - stories like these can’t just be thought up, they’re lived experiences. that being said, this film falls far too deeply into orientalist…
