Good movie. Watched the first half on a plane, second back at home. It’s a small scale short story that shows some very well-developed human characters. I like that it explored so much without needing to shout anything or finish in a grand catharsis. Very show-not-tell, but also humble.

Funny enough I often love period romances like this and I also have a nostalgia spot for theater productions (and 90s movies, really checks a lot of boxes for me), so yeah I liked it a lot, good fun. It's predictable and the way all of the conflicts are resolved in the third act is very Hollywood (derogatory), oh and Joe Fiennes is barely likeable enough to make the romance work, but it does! Everyone else is pretty perfect imo. They really don't make em like this anymore, ahaha. Really who cares about the Oscars?
