  I haven’t seen the first one but this is great as a standalone too. It feels like such a modern film. The smiling villain is a good silly gimmick that’s easy to advertise to the gen pop. Then the opening scene was so stylistically different to what I was expecting and I was hooked. There were elements from so many genres and it made me feel uneasy with like 15 different devices.
