The Shining 1980
My first Kubrick movie and did not disappoint. Can't say anything to fault it. While perhaps not typical horror, definitely a chilling watch that leaves you questioning a lot. Stellar acting from the entire cast, staggering visuals and set design that is genuinely innovative for the time. The choice of ending was unexpected, but in a good way - clearly the right decision plot wise (although this is of course down to the source material).
Just to add, the scoring throughout was absolutely exceptional, and the film would not have been anything near what it is without its flawless soundtrack.

Twin Peaks: The Return 2017
Well I finished the best show ever made so it's all downhill from here.
If I'm being completely honest, I found "The Return" hard to get into at first. It seemed so disjointed from the original show and made me question whether it even was the Twin Peaks I knew and loved. I couldn't have been more wrong.
When I reached the final 3 episodes it all made sense, and Lynch absolutely closed the show in the best way possible.…
