The Monkey 2025
Feels like mid-season Simpsons where every beat is a 'screw the audience' joke. Something about Perkins' signature stilted dialogue direction and King's writing quirks REALLY did it for me. Created and committed to a delightfully off-putting atmosphere.
I would LOVE and rave about Thee Monkey if only they had leaned into practical effects. The endless (and honestly cheap looking) CGI makes the entire film come off as a fun side project. A very VERY fun side project!
