This movie felt like the boy version of Bo burnhams eighth grade. They take place about a decade apart but the tropes of being in 8th grade with the existence of social media hold true. I was in 8th grade 2013-2014 so social media had been around but it was just beginning to enter its modern era. So despite not being in middle school for the time periods either film takes place in, I heavily related to both.
