every now and then i like to revisit this film when i'm in a creative slump. there's nothing particularly spectacular about the film outside of the obviously renowned character work. it's just a good script written by writers allowed their time, a patient director who trusts in the material, and actors allowed to showcase their craft. this film is a living testament to what mastering the principles should look like.

decently funny movie, went in with zero expectations and came out pleasantly surprised. the scene and lighting direction is among the best i’ve seen in the past few months. acting wise, it worked well, though it felt stiff during the musical numbers at times.
