    ★½

By far the most confusing film I've seen at Cannes this year — which is saying a lot, because I also watched a Danish movie that was subtitled only in French.

I thought Stars at Noon was an insufferably long film that ultimately went absolutely nowhere. If it weren't for Margaret Qualley's compelling performance, I would likely have checked out long before the credits rolled.

If this is the direction in which the MCU is heading, count me out 👋

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a soulless, ugly and downright incomprehensible mess of a film – I can't believe how anyone could have signed off on this. The first Ant-Man was genuinely fun: there was a certain joy to the action sequences, the story was easy to follow and Paul Rudd brought a boyish charm to the titular character. In this movie, all that's…

    Searching

    ★★★★½

Rather than relying on its format as a mere gimmick, Searching uses its framing device to tell a compelling story in a way that feels fresh and original. The plot is not only filled with twists, turns and surprises, but also manages to address timely topics regarding emotional intimacy on the internet in a striking way. The only thing I didn't really like is the ending, which doesn't gel well with the overall tone of the film.

That said, this movie is an absolute joy to watch and I would recommend it to everyone.
