Boy did this do a much better job at getting me on board with this Jesus fellow than The Passion of the Christ did. What I appreciated here was the focus on the emotional and psychological sacrifice and message of Jesus, as opposed…

Rather than waste space reviewing this, I’m going to instead recommend you watch the 1955 American thriller film The Night of the Hunter directed by Charles Laughton and starring Robert Mitchum. It also revolves around siblings dealing with the repercussions of their father’s criminal activity, but it’s thirty minutes shorter and an infinitely more valuable use of your time.

Oh boy, I’m gonna be finding sand in all my crevices for days. Seeing this seated dead center in IMAX was a religious experience. I read Dune while in rehab in 2019, so the story means a lot to me personally, and Denis Villeneuve pulled off the impossible delivering not only two science fiction masterpieces, but creating the definitive adaptation of Frank Herbert’s world. If you enjoyed the first part, this one steps things up on basically every level. If Denis decides to take us back to Arrakis to finish out the rest of the series, I’m here for it. MORE WORMS, PLEASE!

    Nosferatu

I’ve been anticipating Eggers’ take on Nosferatu since it was first announced back when The VVitch came out, so needless to say my expectations were pretty high. Like every one of his films I’m sure my opinion of it will be even higher with subsequent viewings (subtitles always help with an Eggers joint), but for now I’ll just say this thing is pure immaculately crafted dread. I used to sleepwalk and had no idea I could’ve made a freaky sex pact with a demon, feel like I really missed out getting into a normal sleep pattern!
