Shutter Island 2010
i’ve watched this film in passing as a kid but never managed to get all the way to the end. i finally decided to watch in through start to finish and i have to say, i expected more. i thought this was going to be a ‘plot twist of the century’ type of movie but it was quite predictable. however, i still thoroughly enjoyed the narrative of this movie and the acting that was displayed.

i would sell my soul to live in the world that is this movie. the colour palette and grading can have my babies its so inexplicably good. there were a few laughable moments here and there but the plot wasn’t my favourite. there was nothing interesting or memorable about it and it fell flat at times. but even with that, i’d still watch this movie solely for the visuals.

The Truman Show 1998
this has been on my watch list for ages and i finally got round to watching it. unfortunately, i had to watch this movie with the volume all the way down, going off nothing but the subtitles. but even with that, i still thoroughly enjoyed this movie. the concept was like nothing i’ve seen before, so unique and creative. the story was told in such an engaging way that creates the illusion of the viewer being part of the ‘truman show’ experience. this movie is definitely a rewatch, but hopefully with the sound on the next time.
