As soon as I saw that the film was based on a Murikami novel, I braced myself. All the tell tale signs of a Murikami piece, a manic pixie girl, ambiguous and melancholic atmosphere, weasly men and slightly psycopathic traits are all present. I am usually all up for fuzzy indie art-house vibes, but this film has all those feelings without a solid plot or characters to anchor it.
The movie, although beautifully shot, keeps you stuck in this inching…
This movie satisfied my deep cleaning itch. An endearing reminder to practice daily gratitude and be present.
I need a better morning routine.
