“Like what you like who cares what others think”- Brie Larson
It’s a lot more fun to enjoy films then to hate them.
Soderberg is a director who to me can be summed up in one word, “Consistent” he’s someone who always delivers and this movie is added into the mist of his incredible work, this feels like a spiritual successor to “Side Effects”
Sleek, sexy and solid , the screenplay is tight, the actors are all dialed in and the look is solid. I like the back and forth between Michael Fassbender, and Cate Blanchett. The story never feels like it’s talking…
I have seen it again, and I will be very honest. The queer allegory within this film about the idea of loudly being yourself, because the people that persecute you would persecute you even if you were quiet is really cool. There’s plenty of subtext about gender identity and aspects of even trans representation in here as well! It’s really cool, and on top of that it’s also an incredibly beautiful, stylized animated film is incredibly fluid character designs, and a unique world aesthetic. Definitely worth the watch. Glad this finally got made.
