Based on the novel by Barry Hines called "A Kestrel for a Knave", published one year prior to the release of the cinematic adaptation.
"Kes" is very British, but its themes are universal and relatable to many. I'm from Brazil and I identify with it deeply.
To me, it's about the struggles of the working class, alienation, and lastly, friendship.

Since I don't like to spread misinformation, I am editing this to say that the film isn't lost at all. It has been brought to my attention that you can view it on Stiftung Mai's website legally and for free. When I wrote my comment here, I could only find copyright information, synopses and the poster, and I'd searched for 2 years to no avail. Seems like Trini Trimpop finally decided to show a print of the film, lol.
Anyway, I'll edit this 'review' again after I see the movie.
The voices of victims of sexual assault deserve to be heard, and I myself have endured it as an adult. There's absolutely no excuse for such crimes. I was left with emotional scars.
However... this documentary is suspicious. If you do research about the criminal cases and these two men, you'll see that they are looking for money.
