  first film to actually scare me in ages and the score is perfection, breathes so much life and character.

   indoctrination and conditioned upbringing creates inherent fear towards the unknown

  despite ivy being blind she is the only one
  to discover the truth and see the village’s true foundation. A foundation held together by lies and false security. 
  By nurturing the sense of fear, the community has become very attached to one another, which only heightens the profoundness of any tragedy.

  i refuse to believe a shyamalan script is this good…like what is happening to me ?? maybe im becoming retarded.

  Herz allowing the emotional turmoil of Julie and the Beast to transcend any written dialogue, really makes the film feel much more intimate when watching this story spiral into something so beautifully tragic.
  The contrast between the Beast's dark and decrepit world against Julie's purity and innocent nature is so touching and creates such a nightmare-ish yet surreal atmosphere throughout
