  It’s really 3 stars I’m biased 🤷🏽‍♀️

  Okay…so we have to talk about ASH. I will start by saying I have been anticipating this film since it was mentioned on a Brainfeeder twitch stream back in 2020. I love the entire label, but I especially love Flying Lotus’ work (I literally have one of his album covers tattooed on my arm). I say all that to say, I was the target audience for this film tenfold.

  If Midsommer was about music and also was chock full of consistency errors. Ayo is the final girl of my dreams! Let’s hope the next time is in a film with a plot as dynamic as she is. ✍️

  Writing this before even leaving my seat in the theater … wow

  This film has given me so much pause. I’m certain I’ll be thinking about this viewing for years to come. The bar scene with the context of the later reveal is heart wrenching. There’s not a single shot wasted and not to state the obvious but the direction and editing is so incredibly strong. It’s also abundantly clear so much care and precision went into grabbing elements from historical archives. I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready, emotionally, for a second watch.

  This was a beautiful and poignant experience.
