Day #2 of Harry Potter in theaters. I forgot how good these film were at telling a self-contained story while still advancing the overall plot.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004
21 years after this movie’s release, I have finally watched a Harry Potter film in theaters and man it makes me feel like I missed out.
I am a sucker for time travel, this is the best of the Harry Potters.

Barbie 2023
Creative and enjoyable, but flawed.
The tongue in cheek humor is great, although parts are less clever than the filmmakers probably thought they were. Also suffers slightly from the classic “show, don’t tell.”
Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are perfect in this.
At times I thought I was watching a Chevy commercial and Elf (no, not just because Will Ferrell is in this).
Overall, it’s a relief that the filmmakers were given as much creative freedom as they were considering how big a brand Barbie is. They mostly delivered and created a fun summer movie.
