The scene where Cooper as Bernstein is conducting Mahler’s Symphony No.2 is pure movie magic. Much of the rest felt unfocused and too surface level with a lot of weird beats. Bernstein pulling up to class blaring the REM song that name checks him was a facepalm, as were the entirely unnecessary prosthetics, aaand when hair and makeup turned Cooper into a George Hamilton doppelgänger. I guess that’s all just (jazz hands) SHOWBIZ..!
