I was ready to put aside my personal dislike for the casting of the second Mrs. de Winter and Maxim and give this movie a 2.5-3 star rating as a passable adaptation and moderately fun time, until the last few minutes where all the new and wildly out of place (and therefore unfortunately almost comedic) scenes threw out all the nuance, mystery and intrigue contained in the ambiguous plot that made the original book so gripping :/
