The Brutalist 2024
logged back into my letterboxd after nearly five years because i loathed this movie so much. shaking with rage as i left the theater, all i could do was laugh about the self-important film wank i willingly put myself through.
i begrudgingly decided to see the brutalist after brady corbet shouted out no other land — a fairly weak response to the charged discourse around whether or not this was a zionist movie, and one i suspect was more motivated…

major level up from eps 1 and 2 in terms of editing and narrative thrust, feels less like a cobbling together of the entire show. not to mention a huge improvement in animation and aesthetic

if you didn't have a ridiculous amount of fun watching this, you don't have a pulse. a hoot. think the young ones in its absurdity, fourth-wall breaking, random music cuts, and occasional gross-out with a healthy dose of cynicism for the japanese music industry (really, worldwide) and capitalism. a HOOT! a RIOT!
