Being labeled a horror movie and with Zach Cregger involved I expected it to be somewhat scary, but it mostly plays out as a comedy.
The movie lays down an abundance of Chekhov's guns and fires them at leisure to advance the plot.
Better enjoyed without thinking too much about the plausibility of the stuff going on like most movies of its kind.

Given the extraordinary amount of build up given to the mostly unseen villain of the movie, and given that he seems to be loved and hated on equal parts, I was ready for a very charismatic character to step down from that train, or at least a terryfing badass a la Jack Palance in Shane, but then it turns out he is just another dude with a gun, quickly to be dispatched by Gary Cooper?
Quite anticlimatic in my opinion.
Not a bad movie, overall but I don't quite get the praise.

Weird that the movie The Nun has a dearth of scenes with the actualy creepy nun I assume audiences paid money to see. Instead, the demon who never misses the chance to try on a good costume appears as a zombie nun, random ghost nun, and lizard boy ghost to terrify our nice but pretty bland characters. She gets the final big scene with the obligatory poorly looking CGI of course but it did seem that the screenwriters weren't all…
