The film presents itself as being anti-capitalist or at least critical of rich people, but by the end, the main character simply integrates the system that allows the rich people to act with impunity in the first place. Classic case of wanting to criticise something without actually knowing/addressing the root cause. The fact that the workers on the island are in on everything and presented in an unsettling light, contrasting with the fact Slater is accorded a certain degree of redemption since he enables her to get to the top, even though he does it without realising, really hammers that home.

Oh god, this was a lot.
First of all, a few words on the first Avatar film: the CGI was amazing and ground-breaking, the soundtrack was incredible, and Jake Sully was hot, but those were pretty much the film’s only redeeming factors.
