Sully 2016
No big surprises from Clint Eastwood. Sully is ultimately an unremarkable film that hardly engages with or disregards the psychological toll that a plane crash may have on a pilot. While the real life event itself is heroic, the film either struggles to (or doesn’t even attempt to maintain, which I’m afraid is far worse) consistent emotional weight. It’s a watchable movie but it doesn’t break any new ground - ultimately it’s average at best. Tom Hanks delivers his typical strong performance. 3 stars.
