This film made me feel icky. I get what they were trying to achieve and I can see elements of girlhood and womanhood being represented, celebrated and highlighted as important and complex experiences to go through.
But at the root of the film is a persistent awareness that it’s simply male ideas and fantasies being disguised as pro-woman and pro-female sexuality.
