  The cinematography is gorgeous: lots of deep blacks and shadows. I enjoyed the mood of the film, it's very bleak yet mysterious. The music is quite effective as well. Nicolas Cage is completely unrecognizable and brilliant. Also, Alicia Witt is seemingly playing a character that's a least fifteen years older than her. The makeup is incredible.   This is the television mini-series version of "Soldier of Orange." There's quite a bit of stock footage of WW2, but many extended and deleted scenes are also included. It's worth seeking out if you enjoyed the theatrical version.
