So he's the lawyer and she is his secretary ( who is mentally unstable and just got out from a mental institution). He finds out that she's self-harming herself in the office in order to manage her anger and emotions. He takes advantage of that and sexualizes it.
He literally called her to his office and asked her to read a letter, in which she misspelled a word, asked her to put her elbows on the desk and to bend over. She starts reading and he starts spanking her.
And that’s how their love story began.
