Got to see it on the big screen which was a real treat. One of my favorite artists in cinema history, and not just cause he was named after a spongebob character.

The Forbidden Christ 1951
While I don't recall much of the film itself, the story behind it is quite interesting, and heightened my appreciation for it at the time. Originally a supporter of the Italian fascist movement, including engaging in the March on Rome, he reformed during and after the war. This film serves as something of an apology and exploration of his shortcomings. Interesting and a film I want to revisit.

Barry Lyndon 1975
If 2001 didn't exist, I would consider Barry Lyndon Kubrick's magnum opus. Perhaps the most beautiful film ever put to screen, with an interesting character study to boot. While I haven't rewatched it in some time, almost every image from the film is seared into my mind. This would be almost any other director's greatest without question.
