While the best actor statuette has long eluded Chuck Norris, it's safe to say we don't really watch his films for Norris the thespian. We watch them for Norris the ass kicker. And kick ass he does in THE OCTAGON, the 1980 ninja-themed actioner from director Erik Karson. It's been forever since I saw this one, so I thought I'd give it a try and it's still a lot of fun. It's great seeing Lee Van Cleef and Ernie Hudson…
I went into this blind and didn't really expect much, but found it to be quite funny. Will Ferrell delivers a serviceable performance and Reese Witherspoon is very funny. They have a good comedic chemistry together, even if the romantic angle may not be the most convincing. The supporting cast is also a lot of fun. The film maybe drags on about 15 minutes too long, but overall I'm glad I gave it a chance. There was some funny stuff in here.
My wife recorded this movie on Lifetime and I watched it with her on Sunday. I feel like they did a really good job with the Whitney look and sound. The main actress did a fine job with both.
The movie doesn't really go anywhere, though. It's the story of how Whitney Houston met Bobby Brown and it's essentially the story of their marriage.
I'm not sure how accurate the portrayal is. I wouldn't say the movie is sugar coated,…
I really dug this movie. It's a shame I'm doing the "only watch new movies in 2015" challenge because I'd really like to watch it again. Movies with time travel and warped realities are often hard to follow and this movie is no exception.
Ethan Hawke is great in this. It's nice to see his career get a bit of a resurgence lately with films like SINISTER and BOYHOOD and, of course, this.
If you're a Sci-Fi fan and/or love movies like LOOPER, do yourself a favor and check this one out. It's pretty rad.
