This was broadly fine, I suppose.
The film feels like a comic book brought to life, which is both a positive and a negative.
Some nice action scenes but the camera work is so frenetic that you have to look away to stop yourself from vomiting.
All two of these stars are for Don Lee and Lee Jun-Young’s performances.
On second watch, I stand by this being a 5 star movie, it’s absolutely ridiculous start to finish, not a single dull moment, feels how a superhero movie should, absurd and completely unaware of just how bad it is.
I hope James Gunn leans into the absurdity of all superheroism the way he did with The Suicide Squad and the GotG movies with his rebootiverse.
Great ensemble cast, really lovely narrative framing, and possibly Bryan Singer’s only truly good movie.
