  I was entertained for 90 minutes thinking about how I’d get along with death itself, but I don’t think the bold risks in this film paid off. Plus I couldn’t stop thinking about the other animals that could’ve played a better death.

  This doc touched on a lot of things, and I wanted a deeper dive into all of them. The only thing that put me in Jon’s corner was that I’m a fan and I was rooting for his wife and his symphony. The doc didn’t do much for his likability, despite his likability.

  Two thoughts surface. First- there are a few shots in this movie that could be hung in the Louvre. Second- As stirring as the script is, my biggest takeaway was that I could be thoughtful about employing more eloquent vocabulary in conversation. And it’s not because we should, but it’s that we can. And I think that’s pretty….. uh, cool. “We were romantics. We didn’t just read poetry. We let it drip from our tongues like honey. Spirits soared. Women swooned, and gods were created, gentlemen.”
