Expansive, bombastic, and monumental, “The Brutalist” is an immigrant story told through exploitation under the guise of opportunity. I am not certain how Brady Corbet did it, but this small $10 million budget was stretched fully. Each scene could be framed with vivid, deep colors and rich shadows, and the set design is equally breathtaking. “You light up a room and then you shit on everything

    ★★★★½

Like all Robert Eggers’ work, Nosferatu evokes sense of dread throughout its runtime. While watching, I noticed the symmetry and evenness of the visuals, which gave the film a distinctive Wes Anderson-esque gothic look, reminiscent of a storybook. Lily Rose Depp’s performance is rock solid and redeemed her after her earlier disappointing role in HBO’s The Idol. Bill Skarsgard and Nicholas Hoult deliver astounding performances, fully immersing themselves in their characters.

Simon McBurney is a true standout, portraying Knock’s descent…
