so obviously adapted from a book, theres too much acting in this for the leads + husband to be so stiff

horrible horrible directing. cinematography and writing are trying too hard with such a poor foundation. score is okay but since everything else flops it just makes the film pretentious. the most unmotivated cinematography I've ever seen and detrimentally disorients you from the first scene. acting is okay but just doesn't work

i never do this but i physically cant finish this movie, cant even play it in the background its distractingly bad. acting is bad, dialogue is worse, sound mixing has me muting every other scene because of the gunshots + low dialogue. danny devito's narration is just so corny. cops arent even interesting to watch and their tough attitude makes them look like cowards, race is not handled well-- i cant tell if its supposed to be commentary but it doesnt come across like it. really wanted to like the movie unfortunately, maybe ill finish it in >5 sittings.

    - finished it, my review still stands
