  LOVE, SIMON is not necessarily a good film, but an important one.
  at times trite and seemingly nebulous, the plot revolves around a gay young man's struggle to come out. the film attempts (without any subtlety) to tell how society needs to be more tolerant and accepting but somehow at the same time manages to not normalize queerness to any degree. additionally, the film tells of queerness through a lens that is clearly cis- and heteronormative, expecting the gay kids…
