Batman Returns 1992
Batman Returns is a structural mess. The Set Design, props and overall art direction is incredible, creating a gothic, german-expressionist aesthetic which strengthens the world of Gotham. However, the film’s writing and editing is quite bizarre as well as messy in places. The action is incoherent and disorienting. The dialogue is often laughable as well as extremely dated with pop-culture phrasing and movie tropes, which at the time of its release, may have been taken more seriously.
Side note , I never would have guessed that i would hear the word “shreck” (or as i hear, “Shrek”) so many times!Translated from by -
Pearl 2022
Brilliant portrait of deranged madness from Mia Goth and Ti West. Driven by Lust, oppression and desires to be seen and appreciated, Pearl is an incredibly entertaining character. This film’s phenomenal cinematography as well as constant score helps complement Mia Goth’s performance to sustain a connection of likability and understanding for what otherwise is a despicable character.
The end credits enraptured the concept of the film entirely. Pearl desperately tries to maintain normality and present the life she desires, but…
