Scene by scenes I was engaged the whole time which says a lot considering how slow moving the plot was (I think I saw the 154min extended version). I appreciated the silent film, remaking scenes from the silent film, and watching the director and actors talk about Ruan. I think the director fell a little too deeply in love with the characters in Ruan’s life, wanted to give each of them color and as a result dragged out the movie.…
