I have such mixed feelings about this film.
As someone who loves film it was brilliant - acting, costume, plot, pacing, comic timing etc, brilliant.
As a student of history - it disempowered Queen Anne and confined her to the stereotypical hysterical woman in power - she was a strong women who lost 11 children while steering her country through treacherous times. I am not by any means calling her perfect, but she was not the weak and overruled women this film portrays. This movie would have been welcomed by the misogynistic detractors of her time.
