  Weirdly one of the best of the live action remakes. My favorite moment is when the Evil Queen asks “Magic Mirror on the wall, how much champagne do we have?” The mirror replies “Enough to fill the Nile, my queen.”

  To start off, I find Wicked on Broadway to be extremely flawed. I celebrated when Avenue Q beat it for the Tony (admittedly, that one hasn’t aged incredibly well). That said, Wicked Part 1 is a masterpiece. The source material is best in the first half, and that’s all you get here. The cast is uniformly great. The real reason this movie works is much more simple. John Chu is amazing at directing musicals. Every scene and number is captivating.…
