This felt like it had some of the makings of a masterpiece but also made me feel like Homer Simpson watching Twin Peaks- completely mesmerized, yet absolutely no fucking idea what’s going on.

Children of Men 2006
A masterpiece of modern filmmaking. Every part of it felt perfect- its haunting score and breathtaking cinematography only heightened the dread I felt throughout. In fact, my wife and I felt so immersed in the dystopia that was depicted, it was actually borderline uncomfortable at times. There were also a couple of downright moving moments that will forever be etched into my memory.
On a much less bleak note, at least we got the amazing Michael Caine playing a weed smoking rebel.
