  A curious one to be sure. I found myself intrigued by the preceding reputation of this feature being nominated and even winning awards while simultaneously being torn to pieces online by disgruntled viewers. I could not help but to bear witness myself.

   The scene that so many chose to point to, almost in blame for their feelings about the film, was the musical number about gender reassignment surgery, but if I can offer instead the scene I feel encapsulates best…
