Such a layered and intricate movie about human connection and what it means to be a family. Kore-eda has a masterful (and I mean MASTERFUL) control of the camera and plot here. Everything is so well done from a directors standpoint. The characters are realistic and grounded, and the interactions between them are heartwarming.
If it had stuck the landing better in the final act this would be a 5 star but it leans on sentimentality a touch too much for my liking.
Pretty good and the acting overall is quality but the pacing is strange and it’s edited very peculiarly. The third act is sort of a bore and the whole message of the movie was unsubtle to say the least. I felt like a lot of avenues were only briefly touched on but somehow the movie still ran over 2 hours.
Idk I feel disappointed as I love a lot of Bong’s other movies. This one didn’t connect with me much but it was good for a science fiction comedy/satire.
It’s a beautiful looking movie but the story, pacing, and characterization leave something to be desired.
I think Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, and Rosamund Pike did extremely well. Keoghan obviously stands out but his performance is actually quite similar to the one in the Killing of a Sacred Deer.
It starts off great but lost my interest a bit by the end. It’s a fucking crazy movie though with some intriguing scenes that Emma didn’t enjoy.
Anyways I liked it but wanted more 🤷♂️
A short and to-the-point thriller that loses a bit of steam with the detective side story but is ultimately very good.
The special effects and shadows are a real highlight and set the tone extremely well.
