Natural Born Killers 1994
Self-actualization vs forced fatehood vs some carnal, taboo desire to commit atrocity that cannot be traced to being birthed but rather something from before even that. I love the pastiche quality of NBK, a love letter to and a searing criticism of media.
Witnessing violence and dissecting it as pop culture fodder is a wholly different kind of brutality. Is our need to brute force logic and speculation into senselessness a carnal desire too? Stone says yes.

Uncut Gems 2019
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Honest to god not a day has passed where I haven't thought about uncut gems since the day I saw it. It's endlessly complex, contextually rich, and nobody carries dumb bitch energy like my boy Howard.
In all seriousness though, uncut gems fucked me up for a while. Something about watching a man who already had so much throw it all away just for the sake of capital gain really messed with my head. Howard had more material possessions, relationships,…
