  Pretentious bullshit with a storyline that achieves absolute butt fuck nothing. The lack of any sort of climax really makes you wonder what they figured warranted a 2.5 hr runtime. The first half is entertaining with some great dialogue, but right as you think it’s going somewhere, it feels like they got tired of writing a script and decided to eye ball it. I guess it’s easier to make a thriller when you forget to make it thrilling, what a waste of 2.5 hrs of my life. Cate Blanchett was great though, but her beautiful performance still couldn’t save this shit show of a movie.

  All style no substance, the movie tries to hide its lack of a good narrative by covering the screen in impressive sets, locations and big stars. Crazy Rich Asians sadly shows the extent to which blockbuster cinema has taken over the silver screen where even a rom-com needs to be dressed in a big budget and big stakes. Instead of giving you a fuzzy feeling, Crazy Rich Asians just makes you feel the void in your bank account.
