This is such a fun movie. It's Deadpool, toned down to PG-13, dropped into a video game / metaverse concept. Ryan Reynolds doing Ryan Reynolds is obviously the main draw, but Taika doing Taika complements perfectly (how was Green Lantern so bad?). The rest of the cast / cameos aren't asked to do too much other than have fun. And there are so many clever easter eggs and fun fan service for those of us that are gamers.

I was curious based on the reviews and they're right: it's surprisingly not bad. It's not the first Pirates, though it definitely wants to be, but that alchemy of theme park ride to critically acclaimed blockbluster hit was never reproducible (won't stop them from trying though... can't wait for The Mad Tea Party movie). The Rock and Emily Blunt do well enough to carry 2 hours of plot that's on par with the latter Pirates movies, and Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons and Paul Giamatti clearly had fun delivering caricatures which comes across. Not sure it's deserving of a sequel, but we're getting one so... yay?

If you're a fan The Witcher franchise and you enjoy or at least are ok w/ watching anime, then it's enjoyable enough. If not... I'm sorry, but why would you even think about watching this then?

This movie is about as good as expected... Feel like they were aiming for a C and delivered just that. Give them credit for a pretty smart conceptual update. Acting is passable (Addison Rae doesn't stick out as particularly bad or good, which may say more about the rest of the cast than her...). Putting Matthew Lillard and Rachel Leigh Cook in is fun. Ultimately an uninspired piece of business delivers an uninspired product.
