This was a fairly weak film overall, but it did try to be kind of ambitious with telling a story spanning several time periods, and the acting was generally good. The film did feel a bit unfocused though, and the plot wasn't the most straightforward. Overall it was okay.
Honestly, I consider this film to be one of the better Nightmare on Elm Street movies. It's really goofy, but I think turning up the goofiness and giving Freddy more screen time help the series a lot after some lackluster entries. Made during a time where, even by the standards of Godzilla films, the movies weren't doing very well. Boring human characters and a mediocre story, along with the large amount of reused footage, really hurt the film. But it gets a few stars for a few entertainingly goofy scenes, like Godzilla talking in word balloons, and Gigan just being an awesome monster, it's unfortunate that his debut was in such a mediocre movie.
