  The *characters’* ages in the book (17 and 23) didn’t bother me as much as the *actors’* ages (31 and 21). And Oliver in the movie seemed much more mature and almost maniacal than in the book, especially compared to Elio in the movie. The age gap and the more-mature Oliver tainted the movie romance, for me.
