seems like lots of japanese works are set in the transition to the early Edo period. deeply prescient to our time, the feeling of dying ethos, the wrath of technology. kinda seems like every generation has some version of that though. samurai are just that cool. masterful storytelling, suspense, insane performance, timeless badass play on the human condition and her ideals under the oppressive unfeeling system
