The love triangle I didn’t expect and didn’t want. Skarsgard and Hoult smashed their roles. Dafoe is as tame of a character as we’ve ever seen in a Robert Eggers film and I wasn’t left too disappointed by that.

Big guns? Check. Many Xeno? Check. Ripley becoming a space marine leader in one night? Check. Gone are the dread inducing moments of suspense wondering where the sole Xenomorph is lurking. Now, there are a colony full of your favorite critters dropping in through every nook and cranny. The set designs and practical effects will remind you that Hollywood’s obsession with the green screen just can’t produce the same sense of immersion as films such as this one. A sci fi horror turned sci fi action flick while retaining the same awe and fear as its predecessor. Well done, James.
