    My new favourite type of villain is "handsome, deep-voiced Southern Bible thumper with some of the most obvious mommy issues I've ever seen in my life." Some of my favourite instances in Night of the Hunter are the brief moments when Robert Mitchum, intentionally or not, acts like a total fucking lunatic, breaking through his charisma and/or quiet seething rage.

    When you think about it, Night is Short, Walk On Girl has many things thematically in common with Masaaki Yuasa's other work, Devilman Crybaby. In this three hour essay, I will- *The sniper's bullet rips through my skull, killing me instantly*

    I think the movie was soured for me right from the get-go with the romanticized Amazon scenes (as well as the stilted dialogue where Frances McDormand says how good it is to be working there), which just go to show how toothless it's actual take…
