American Movie 1999
I thought it was a mockumentary until very deep in. Once I realized it was genuine I was all in.
What a fascinating capture of a time period and interesting characters subjects that were both inspiring and bleak.
I really wanna see Coven in its full length…that crew did magical things on little to no budget and Borchardt trully had a vision.
If you love slice of life documentaries, the nineties, or guerrilla filmmaking check it is a must see.

You Hurt My Feelings 2023
It strikes me as a movie you may bring up at that dinner party between reflecting on recent NPR programs and gushing about your favorite new wine at Whole Foods…some of which I can relate. Some of which leaves it feeling as if I wasn’t who it was made for.
The film isn’t hallow.
A little flat maybe…a little too safe and polished. Felt at times like Woody Allen if you dropped the neurotic energy and was wrapped up in a generic little package. That being said…I don’t hate it. I just didn’t feel much about it.
Always love David Cross however…highlight to be sure.

Tense and fucked. What a great time.
Chemistry between the leads are absolutely incredible. Mimi Cave’s touch on modern romance and creating a delicate balance between dark humor in the midst of a concept that could have been handled like any grimy torture porn was refreshing and enticing.
